Problem
Utility chambers located within infrastructure corridors required safe, non-slip access solutions while preventing accidental falls during maintenance. Worker safety and ease of operation were critical design considerations.
Solution
Access Flow supplied Aluminium Checker plate Access Covers with integrated safety grills to prevent accidental fall into 15m deep stormwater tanks . They were equipped with lift-assist gas springs for ease of opening and closing . Covers and Frame were designed by our team based on specific operational and safety requirements within the project. The safety-grill variant provided an additional fall-protection layer beneath the opening, while the lift-assist gas-spring variant ensured smooth lifting, reduced manual effort, and safer handling of large and heavy cover leaves during maintenance operations.
